Dr. Mike Stevens is delighted to be located on Waiheke Island and greatly enjoys serving the dental needs of the people of Waiheke. Mike has been a resident of the island since June 1995 when he returned to New Zealand (having lived and worked overseas for nine and a half years) with his wife Julie.Mike and Julie bought the Waiheke Dental Centre from Dr Keith MacLean in mid-1999 and have, assisted by staff, continued to develop the Centre to better serve Waihekeans. A constant learner Mike keeps updating his knowledge through professional journals and the several professional societies he belongs to.
Melanie Mitchell has been part of the team at Waiheke Dental Centre since 1999 where she originally started as Dr Mike Stevens’ dental surgery assistant and Practice Manager. Melanie left the practice for a short period of time to continue her studies.In December 2011 Melanie graduated from Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health. Melanie is now the Practice’s Oral Health Therapist. With a focus on hygiene and adolescent care, Melanie’s aims are prevention and successful treatments and mostly patient satisfaction. She enjoys working together with her patients for optimal oral health outcomes. Melanie is keen to increase her knowledge and skills by belonging to professional societies and reading professional journals.
Waiheke-Dental-Staff-memberNina has been a dental surgery assistant at Waiheke Dental Centre since January 2010. Her previous work is in customer service where she was well known as a face for BNZ on Waiheke.Nina has been living here on Waiheke for over 16 years and she and her family are very much part of the community. Nina works with both Mike and Melanie as their dental assistant and loves the interaction with our patients.
Staff Dee squareDee joined Waiheke Dental Centre as a dental surgery assistant in September 2013. She has an extensive background as a dental surgery assistant, previously working in Australia and the UK in this field of work.Currently Dee works for us in a relieving capacity around her child care work. Dee grew up here on Waiheke and ventured overseas for her OE. Dee and her husband Michael have a home here. She loves animals, kayaking, the beach, and being with family and friends. She looks forward to assisting patients here at Waiheke Dental Centre.
Justine moved to Waiheke from Great Barrier Island and joined us as a dental surgery assistant in September 2013. Previously Justine worked for Neil Wright (the dentist on Great Barrier Island). Justine cares for our patients in a friendly and professional manner and loves working with the girls and Mike. Justine loves the beach, walking and has four awesome kids and two grandchildren.
Erica is the first face you’re likely to see as you enter Waiheke Dental Centre, from Wednesday to Friday, as the Front Office/Admin Officer. Erica brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role and was previously the ‘face’ of a Chiropractic practice on Waiheke. Outside of work Erica’s passions are her girls and her horses.

Julie is another face that will greet you as you come into Waiheke Dental Centre on Mondays and Tuesdays. Julie is very familiar with the front office operations of dental centres, previously working in Auckland Practices. Julies interests outside work are competing in the local RSA quiz, cooking, wine tasting and travelling.

Elliot works part time with Waiheke Dental Centre and mans the front desk on our late nights. Elliot is studying Environmental Science and Geography at Auckland University. His interests outside of University and Work include Fishing, Boating and generally anything outdoors!

security-officer-150x150Security Officer Milly:  A member of the team since early 2009 Milly keeps an eye out for intruders but could possibly be appeased with patting and petting. She is an ethnic Miniature Schnauzer.
